The cake dash!

Now this was something unexpected and adventurous!! I think we should organise a race next time - who can run faster with a huuuuge bowl of pastry mix?

Anyways - a superb effort from you guys, from the photos it looks like you all enjoyed yourselves.

So - the next step: Alex and Andrei, maybe you'd like to put your photographs on the site yourselves? Let me know!

Can someone please put the recipe for this cake on this site... or send it to me to do it?

Tomorrow when we go to the market we'll be taking another dish with us which I'll prepare this evening, see you then those who are helping me :)

Recipe for Polish Pancakes

So...

for 500grams of mushrooms take:
a small onion - chop finely and fry in a little oil,
add the mushrooms (cleaned and finely sliced) and salt/pepper/seasoning to taste. Cook over a medium heat until the mushrooms are visibly done. Drain the water from them if a lot remains.
Set aside.

Whilst the mushrooms are cooking, make the pancake batter;
Take 3 eggs, break into a large bowl and whisk.
Into this add fine white flour slowly, ensuring the mixture stays smooth. To this add milk (bit by bit), a little salt and more flour until the mixture is quite thin. Keep whisking it all the time or it'll have lumps (and look real dodgy!) Then make pancakes with it :)

So now you have to combine the two -
You'll need to grease a baking tray,
then take 3 bowls:
one with cheese like cascaval,
another with a couple of eggs and beat them,
and the last with breadcrumbs (pesmet).

Into each pancake place a little bit of the mushrooms, a little bit of cheese and roll them into a parcel. Now, dip into the egg mixture and roll in the breadcrumbs. Voila! It's ready to place on the baking tray...

Put them into the oven for about 20 minutes at 180 degrees celsuis. Basically, you don't want to over-do them because then they'll taste like cardboard! :)

Enjoy!

Invites

I've been sending the invites out to you all, but there are a couple of yahoo ID's I simply can't read, perhaps you could all invite anyone you discover missing?!

The original journey

When the Federation du Petrin team travelled from Istanbul to Marburg earlier this year, we kept a journal on the internet.

At www.federation-du-petrin.com you'll find a blog in English, French and German as well as photographs (on the page with the blog, scroll down to 'reisebildergallerie' in the bottom-left corner and enter this link).

These photos document the journey until Romania - I'm just working on putting some stories in English on the web which hopefully will be up by the end of this day.

Welcome

Hello! Welcome to the website we'll use for the Recipe on a Journey project.

This is YOUR website to publish photographs, ideas and stories about the project. Hopefully this means you'll remember what you did for some time to come.

I apologise that things have been disorganised and we've had to delay the event - it's all because I know how much you love exams ;) But seriously - this should give us time to organise it better anyway.

So, use your invite and begin writing, I hope you won't be shy. Of course, if you have any doubts or want your writing checked, send it to me without a second thought, I'll be happy to help.

Check back for more updates very soon,
Olga
